Gardening:
Planting
Knowledgeable selection and careful planting is the foundation of any garden. Use the link at the bottom of the page to go to our plant selector page, where you can see all the ornamentals that can be grown in the Seattle area and filter by size, form, flower color, bloom season, native, evergreen/deciduous and much more. We are happy to select and deliver perennials, shrubs and trees from nurseries for regular clients.
Structural Pruning
Many trees can be pruned to fit specific conditions. Whether espalier, fan, cordon, open-center or pyramid, young plums, apples and cherries need skilled guidance in the 2-5-year-old phase at least. Dozens of species can be kept to 15ft tall or less with yearly winter pruning. We can guide trees away from houses and power lines before they become a nightmare and big trees planted in full sun generally need careful thinning while forming to avoid devastating winter damage later in life.
Mulching and Edging
Essential for long-term soil and plant health, mulching well-defined beds also adds a sharp look to a garden. A thorough weeding and mulch application can reduce long-term maintenance costs to next to nothing while adding life to your soil and the plants it supports.
Trimming & Expert Pruning
Regular removal of dead, damaged and diseased wood, hedge trimming, or expert pruning for maximum flower and fruit production. You won't find us creating unnecessary work for ourselves. We provide an affordable and effective service to shape shrubs to your expectations by knowledgable, well-timed pruning and trimming. Gas trimmers used for hard cuts on laurels, escallonias, yews, cypress, etc.
Weeding & Cultivation
Sometimes, weeds grab a hold of your outside spaces and spread easily among the nurturing environment of a vibrant garden. Other times... they've taken over. Thorough hand-removal is the best way to ensure the long-term health of a garden and the people who enjoy it. The battle against weeds doesn't have to be everlasting! Even in the worst spaces, a thorough, triple cultivation and heavy mulch application can beat them for good!
Division
Perennials that have become tired over the years can be reinvigoated by being dug up and replanted over a wider area or given to friends and neighbors. Fall or spring.
Soil Improvement
Digging in soil amendments is an easy way to bring life and vitality to what is planted within. On-site composting where practical is also a great way to improve your soil while eliminating the need for the expensive hauling of tons of material back and forth.
Lawns and Maintenance:
Clean-Ups
All organic material is brought to the nearest composting center, composted on site or left for city pickup in avaiable areas. NO GAS BLOWERS!!!
Lawn Installation or Removal
All lawn work is done as a part of a long-term, considered approach designed to maximize your enjoyment of the space surrounding your home. Careful selection of appropriate species for conditions is a step often forgotten, that we never do. Seeding is ideal for inexpensive, fall-time installation; sod good for spring.
Regular Mowing
Available weekly or twice a week during peak growth. Gas mowers used only for extremely overgrown lawns. Quiet and quick, we provide no-hassle maintenance for any size lawn.
Aeration, Dethatching Leveling & Reseeding
Reinvigorate areas with non-ideal conditions or trampled by heavy use. Or keep it up yearly to get a perfect, thick turf. Available fall.

Drip irrigation can provide much-needed summer relief for even drought-tolerant plants, and eliminate the need to hand-water needy plants. It is a must for all containers.
